Best Workplace Factors
In June 2014 Aldermore invited all employees to attend regional events with their Executive Team. The theme of the event was afternoon tea and the purpose was to provide an opportunity for employees to undertstand more about the vision for Aldermore's future, to ask questions of the Executive Team, to get to know colleagues from other sites and to have fun.
The regional events took place across 3 consecutive days at off-site venues in the North, Midlands and South. Over 808 invitations were sent to home addresses and 677 attended the events.
Employees were taken by coach to the venue and during the trip were provided with goody bags and were asked to write on post it notes about their proudest moment at Aldermore. When people arrived at the venue, the post it notes were added to a pride board.
At the event the Executive Team talked about their vision for the future of Aldermore and videos were played of customers and colleagues talking about their experience with Aldermore. After afternoon tea, there was an open mic for employees to ask questions to any member of the Executive Team.
Employees were surveyed after the event and results showed that 84% of people felt the event had achieved its aim of helping them to understand their business aims and strategy and 88% felt the Executive Team had answered the questions put to them.
The IdeaBox is a staff suggestion scheme aimed at eliciting good ideas to help improve their working processes and environment. Aldermore want to give their people, the opportunity to put forward improvement ideas to support their commitment to operational efficiency and exceptional customer service.
Ideas are submitted via the ‘IdeaBox’ and reviewed by a Committee who decide the best idea of the quarter and the year, for which there is a cash reward.
Aldermore have a REDStars recognition scheme that was re-launched in February 2014. This scheme is designed to recognise, encourage and reward excellence in the behaviour of employees over and above the requirements of their normal duties; and provides an opportunity to celebrate such special efforts. Employees can be nominated as individual or as part of a team by their colleagues or Managers. All employees who have been nominated receive a REDStar badge, a £20 REDDIE’s voucher and a thank-you note from their Senior Leader. The top 5 nominees per quarter receive a REDStar trophy, £400 in high street vouchers and are taken first class on an all expenses paid overnight trip to London with a private pod trip on the London Eye and dinner with their Executive Team.
