Bates Wells are a professional services consultancy combining legal, corporate finance, strategy and financial regulatory compliance.
Founded in 1970 by Andrew Phillips, the company has always been based in London. Today, there are more than 250 staff and 38 partners, specialising in advising responsible businesses and public interest organisations.
The firm works with a wide range of clients, large and small, across a variety of sectors, from established businesses, charities, social enterprises and public bodies to innovative start-ups and high-profile individuals.
In 2014, the firm became an alternative business structure - the first City-based firm to do so specifically to provide a unified service to their clients. They combine practical, commercial legal expertise with the deep understanding of the third sector that comes from working with more charities and social enterprises than any other UK firm.
Bates Wells are a forward-thinking company and, as such, operate a zero waste-to-landfill policy, recycling everything - coffee grounds are recycled into advanced biofuels.
