Originally called Neoligaments, the company was founded in Leeds by their chairman, Dr Bahaa Seedhom, following collaboration with his friend and colleague Dr. Kyosuke Fujikawa to develop a textile-based implant and reconstruction technique for the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament). In 2000, the company name was changed to Xiros to reflect the widening scope of their business activities.
Alongside the development and manufacture of their own devices which they continue to market under the Neoligaments brand, as Xiros they also provide extensive expertise in research, development, design, manufacture and marketing to others in the medical field.
Xiros' ultimate goal is to make a positive difference to the world, both through their business ventures and through their not-for-profit activities. They strive to improve the quality of life for all who are affected by their organisation; be it the patients whose injuries are repaired by having their devices implanted, their employees and their families, or members of the local communities.
They place great emphasis on employee wellbeing and offer a wide range of rewards and benefits to all who work with them. They believe in developing the skills of every single one of their employees, and through facilitation and funding of training courses and team building activities, they take pride in helping them to reach their true potential and achieve their aspirations.
