Audit Scotland help the Auditor General and Accounts Commission make sure organisations spending public money in Scotland do so efficiently and effectively by auditing various aspects of how public bodies work.
The company are responsible for auditing over 220 organisations. They include: 77 central government bodies and Scottish Parliament, including police, fire and Scottish Water; 23 NHS bodies; 32 councils; 74 joint boards and committees, including 30 health integration boards; and 20 further education colleges
Their headquarters are in Edinburgh and they employ staff who work across offices in Scotland and are overseen by a board.
Chair of the board is Ian Leitch CBE who was an Assistant Chief Executive Officer at the Scottish Parliament before his retirement. He joined the board in 2014.
