About BT Consumer

They are the consumer division of BT Group. They provide fixed-line, mobile, broadband and digital television to consumers in the UK. As part of BT Group they are proud to be the world's oldest communications company. Following the acquisition of Plusnet by BT in 2009 and EE in 2015, a new consumer division was created in 2018 operating across three brands, BT, EE and Plusnet.
With over 30 million customers and more than 620 stores on the high street, they are the largest provider of consumer mobile and fixed broadband communications services in the UK.

Sustainability is important to them. They work closely with suppliers to make their business and products as sustainable as possible, from the first link in the supply chain through to their customers.
In Consumer, they bring together the best networks, the best technology and the best people. Making connections, driving innovation and creating new possibilities. Working hard to create a great experience for both their people and their customers.

Their values of Personal, Simple and Brilliant shape their culture. They help guide their decisions at every level. They define how they work every day and help them go 'Beyond Limits' for their customers and colleagues. In short, they show them the right thing to do. Every single one of them has a role to play in bringing these values to life - wherever they sit in the business, whatever job they do. This is why Consumer is a great place to work.

What is it like to work for BT Consumer

My Manager
My Manager
The majority of their management development programmes are run internally, only their Connected Leaders programme is supported externally. For their senior leaders they have Connected Leaders, a development programme that is aligned to their eight leadership behaviours. A mix of external and internal led learning, for each key behaviour, mapped out in a development journey. Typically, a blend of face to face and virtual learning, with ongoing support to embed and role model the behaviours with follow up group coaching sessions. Individuals select the behaviours they need to develop as part of their personal learning journey.
My Team

They recently asked employees across BT with an interest in tech to apply to be an EE ‘5G Maker’. They trained them up to become an expert in 5G, giving them new tech to work with to interact and communicate with teams across the business around the wonders of 5G. Following a dedicated training day, they were deployed to chat with store teams, contact centres and their corporate head offices.

Throughout the year they recognise the contribution of their colleagues through instant, monthly, quarterly, and annual recognition. Individuals and line managers can recognise immediate excellence, linked to their values of Personal, Simple and Brilliant, through simple thank you cards or e-cards and where appropriate give a recognition gift.
