Big Group strive to arrange for all employees to meet with their General Manager for an introduction into the Company. They ensure staff have meetings with each department to understand the business and also to visit at least one of the other offices in the first week. Staff receive a welcome pack and are introduced to the whole company through their intranet. They have a staff directory on the intranet with photos and fun facts about their colleagues to help new starters know who everyone is and have an ice breaker conversation ready! The welcome pack includes a tote bag, branded notebook and pen and a small cuddly dog, Max, who resembles their office dog.

In August they hold an annual summer fete and for this they bring all employees together at the Newbury office where they are fortunate to have a paddock. This year the theme was ‘a very British summer’ and employees could dress to this theme if they wanted to. They had a bbq and a 30 minute showcase of recent projects from a variety of departments. They then had the opportunity to take part in games and socialise with peers. They had a bucking brunco, a gladiator duel podium, beer pong, a giant buzz wire game, name the baby and a selection of employee’s baby photos and giant twister. They were treated to their own ice cream van and each department provided a summer bake for a bake off competition. The day was a great success and the had a photographer who captured the memories.
