About Bristows

What is it like to work for Bristows

For those employees who need to work from home occasionally, laptops and blackberries are provided. The firm's policy is that everyone works in the firm's offices as members of a team, unless there is no alternative, to foster a sense of community and discourage long hours working. In this way Bristows aim to decrease the incidence of depression, isolation and anxiety. Opportunities to work flexibly are widely taken up by staff in all employee groups.

Staff elect two charities to focus fund raising activities upon. This year it is the NSPCC and London Air Ambulance. Bristows also support Jeans for Genes day every year as the work of the charity is closely associated with the work the firm undertakes for their clients. This year Bristows have joined A4ID (Advocates for international Development) providing pro bono advice to organisations in third world countries. In particular they have given advice to Optometry Giving Sight, Concordis International Ltd, Amensty International and Lifeworth Consulting. Altogether 20 lawyers participate in these projects from across the firm.

A non-contractual Christmas bonus is paid at a flat rate to all employees to acknowledge contributions across the firm irrespective of salary levels, reflecting an equality of effort as part of one firm-wide team. When the Bristowws’ performance has been respectable, a bonus is paid to all staff to reflect that contributions have been made by everyone throughout the firm as a part of one whole team. The Partners also give two additional non-contractual days’ holiday to be taken over the Christmas period.
