Cheltenham Borough Homes is dedicated to improving the lives of people and communities across Cheltenham by providing support for those most in need along with safe, secure homes for people and families.
Their primary purpose is to be a people centred organisation that cares for colleagues and customers. To ensure that this happens, a set of four core principles are in place for all employees to adhere to; Trustworthy, Supportive, One Team, Respectful.
To ensure the health and wellbeing of all employees at Cheltenham Borough Homes, the company paid for 16 members of staff to be trained as mental health first aiders. These 16 employees are on hand to offer support whenever it may be needed. On top of that, an Employee Assistance Programme is available 24/7 to offer guidance, face to face sessions or even telephone counselling.
Cheltenham Borough Homes CEO operates an open-door policy. This encourages colleagues from across the business to engage either on a personal or professional level. The CEO will also spend time contacting colleagues who have received a compliment to express personal thanks on behalf of the business.
Cheltenham Borough Homes (CBH) currently runs #keepcheltwarm, a campaign to help keep local children and adults warm through the winter months by donating a coat. CBH collect new and unwanted coats from colleagues and partners and give them to those in need within the communities in and around Cheltenham. Any coats left over are given to charities that support homelessness, refugees, children living in poverty and people fleeing domestic violence. The campaign has proved to not only build trust within these communities, it also allows CBH colleagues to feel pride and satisfaction for doing something extra.
