Chess are one of the UK's leading telecoms, cyber security and ICT end to end solution providers, helping over 30,000 businesses grow through innovative technology and expert advice.
Keen for internal development and progression, Chess introduced a new initiative ('Learn to Earn') to encourage employees to develop their knowledge and skills and in doing so progress their careers at Chess. This initiative enables Chess employees to increase their earning potential by achieving clearly defined learning milestones.
Chess provide people with no qualifications or lack of previous experience a fresh start. The organisation takes young people from the Prince's Trust on work placements and has also given them paid employment. Every quarter, Chess provide a 'welcome to work day,' where they also support them with interview skills and mock interviews.
Chess are proud to be flexible in supporting their employees with anything that may be impacting their life outside of work. After becoming aware that more employees deal with carer responsibilities in some way, Chess formed a group of 'carer champions' with a private forum on Microsoft Teams where they can share experiences and advice.
Chess operates an ‘ECO’ team to encourage environmentally friendly activities in the organisation, which have brought about a significant increase in waste recycling and reduction in the amount of waste going to landfill. They also operate a car share group on Yammer which supports employees in car sharing so they can travel between sites without impacting the environment.
