Five Guys have stuck to their 'perfect and serve' philosophy ever since the family business began in Arlington, Virginia during the mid 1980's.

Over the course of the last 30 years, Five Guys have grown from a small, family-run operation to one of nearly 1,500 locations across the U.S, Canada, Europe and the Middle East.

It is important to Five Guys that every single one of their near 3,000-strong workforce believe in the same things that they do. This means living, breathing, eating and sleeping every single one of their five core principles.

Their five core principles are: Integrity; Get It Done; Competitive; Family; and Enthusiastic. By living these core principles, Five Guys firmly believe that they will one day reach their ambition of 'creating an unrivalled burger experience'.

What is it like to work for Five Guys

Five Guys believe that everyone is part of the family and that nobody is more important, regardless of the role they hold in the business. Senior managers spend time working with teams in the kitchen with teams during busy shifts. The senior management team will also on occasion join the teams to do a closing shift.

Five Guys operates a secret shopper programme. This involves a secret shopper visiting the restaurant twice a week and scores their experience based on key brand standards. The criteria for the secret shopper includes quality of food, environment, customer service and NPS (Net promoter score). Awarding the bonus is based on the team achieving over 90% and a % of sales of that restaurant is divided between those on shift at that time.
