Golden Lane Housing are a housing association specialising and exclusively housing people with learning disabilities to support independent living.
Golden Lane Housing (GLH) was created by Mencap over 20 years ago to tackle the devastating problems people with a learning disability face when finding a new home. As a unique housing association, GLH starts with the individual, families and carers. They meet with them to understand specific needs and importantly their desires for a home, and then GLH source the best option which can be adapted and decorated to tenants choice.
GLH have nearly 1000 individual dispersed properties across the country which provide high quality homes tailored to the needs of the tenants. Offering choice for personalised fittings and decorations makes a huge difference to someone who often has never had the chance to choose their surroundings.
It is important to GLH that they do not forget the dedication and hard work from employees on a daily basis. They have therefore created a recognition process called 'You Rock'. The 'You Rock' programme allows for employees to mention and recognise colleagues that have gone over and above and want them to know.
