International General Insurance UK are an international speciality insurance and reinsurance group. They underwrite a diverse portfolio of 17 speciality lines worldwide.
Established in 2002, they are an entrepreneurial business with a risk portfolio of energy, property, construction and engineering, ports and terminals, financial institutions, general aviation, professional indemnity, professional and financial lines, directors and officers, political violence, forestry, and treaty reinsurance.
Registered in Bermuda, they have operational headquarters in Amman, Jordan, with offices in London, Dubai, Casablanca, and Kuala Lumpur, and are renowned for delivering outstanding levels of service to clients and brokers.
During the pandemic, regular email communications were sent out from the UK HR Manager updating employees on current Government guide lines and Covid-19 procedures in the office. A ‘return to office’ committee was put together to oversee operational safety and compliance, which also considered findings from pulse surveys to gauge how employees felt about returning to the office, and if any additional support was needed.
International General Insurance UK has introduced 'Wellness Wednesdays', where they run virtual classes on wellbeing. This includes activities such as webinars, guided meditation, virtual exercise classes, and chair yoga.
Additionally, they also offer a health and fitness benefit, where the company gives each employee an allowance of £500 per year to use on a gym membership, health club membership or personal training (PT) session.
The organisation has encouraged staff to stay connected with each other and interact with teams outside of their own. This includes virtual ‘breakfast clubs’ for half an hour every Friday morning, as well as drinks. It has also organised fundraising events, including a challenge for all staff to collectively walk, or run, 2020km over a six-week period by adding their individual achievements to a group tally until the goal was reached.
