About NHS Business Services Authority

NHS Business Services Authority (NHS BSA) provide a range of critical central services to NHS organisations, NHS contractors, patients and the public.

NHS BSA were formed in 2006 with the bringing together of a number of independent organisations that provided support to the NHS. Over the years since, they have taken on new work streams and cover a diverse range of functions.

The organisation has an ambition to 'be the delivery partner of choice for the NHS'. To help facilitate this ambition, NHS BSA created a set of four core principles to which they look for in every employee. These principles are: Collaborative, Adventurous, Reliable, and Energetic (CARE).

When they launched these principles, NHS BSA engaged with colleagues from across the organisation to discuss what these meant. As a result, they developed a series of posters that were used in exercises, to identify how the Principles manifest themselves in the day-to-day job.

To promote these principles, they hold 'We Care Awards', to recognise people working in customer and contact services (CCS), patient services, overseas healthcare services (OHS) and student services.

Opened by the chief executive, the awards ceremony is a chance for senior managers to thank staff; as well as a lovely way for colleagues to nominate each other to show appreciation for all that they do.

What is it like to work for NHS Business Services Authority

Their in-house Mental Health First Aid service is comprised of a range of colleagues who have undertaken accredited Mental Health First Aid training. They provide one to one listening support and signposting services for colleagues experiencing emotional distress.
