Leeds-based Northern Monk brew, package and distribute their own line of craft beer.
The story of Northern Monk started back in 2013 when a relative one of the founders decided to sell their home and downsize, freeing up a small amount of equity which was shared equally between grandchildren. Russell Bisset decided he wanted to use his £5,000 to bring his idea of Northern Monk to life.
The business attracted investment within the first 3 months, and in 2014, Northern Monk was truly born.
Today, Northern Monk employ a team over 50 dedicated people that share a passion for producing quality craft beer.
With the business continuing to grow, Northern Monk ensure they look after each and every team member. Their people managers are all either trained or in the process of training in mental health first aid to help them identify the signs of stress and support their teams should any of them feel under stress at work.
Northern Monk know that there can be external factors that can make working life more stressful. Rather than expecting employees to leave their family or home stresses at the door, they look at ways in which they can support people at work to ease the pressure of external stress, such as flexible working, working from home or short notice annual leave.
