Rainbow Trust Children's Charity provides expert family support workers to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.
When serious illness affects a child, family life is turned upside down, and time becomes more precious. Rainbow Trust pairs each family with a dedicated family support worker who becomes a trusted and constant person in family life, providing practical and emotional support. This support helps families to face, and make the most of each new day.
Registered as a charity in 1986, Rainbow Trust currently has nine family support teams throughout England who work with families in their own homes and in their communities. Rainbow Trust understands that every family has differing needs; they listen and work with them individually to support, guide and help them cope. They offer emotional and practical support from diagnosis throughout treatment, recovery or beyond bereavement.
All services are offered without charge, they rely almost entirely on voluntary contributions to support these vulnerable families. Rainbow Trust strives to deliver a high level of service and professionalism, whether to families, supporters or volunteers.
The commitment to supporting and developing employees is central to the charity's goal of becoming a high performing organisation. To be a high performing organisation requires commitment from Rainbow Trust and its employees. The performance management process and total reward schemes are fair, endorsing Rainbow Trust values, encouraging exceptional performance and providing recognition to individuals for exceeding the agreed performance expectations of the families and children Rainbow Trust exists to support.
