There is support and guidance available to help employees and team take ownership of their own development. There is not an open programme of courses if the employee or team require anything from technical to soft skills, personal development to business skills, support and guidance is available and provided using the most suitable learning interventions.

New in 2013, SAS brought its recruitment team in house. The team have introduced some new initiatives including a referral matching scheme. An employee can now refer a friend for employment and donate their referral fee to charity this doubles the amount offered to a minimum of £2000 and a maximum of £6000. The team also offer free evening workshops to employees families covering: - CV Writing- Approaching potential employers- How to communicate your unique skill set- What is my story and how do I tell it?- Interview coaching. Their pavilion is made available to local cricket club and scout/beaver groups. Activities such as club meetings, camping trips, cricket matches take place throughout the season. They open their grounds for the National Garden Scheme charity, giving people the opportunity to explore their fantastic environment. SAS sponsored the first Danesfield Dash in 2013. This is a 10k race and a 1 mile children's race, in aid of the local Danesfield School, held on Sunday 28 April at 10am. SAS’ grounds were also used to form part of the race route. On a racing theme teams took part in the Thames Path Challenge a 50km walk along the Thames in aid of their chosen charity. Movember is supported by their employees who created a calendar in November 2012 to sell on behalf of the charity; each month portrayed one of the mo growers sporting their moustaches in various themed photo shoots.

SAS UK actively uses the findings from the Best Companies to Work for survey to engage with its employees and show that it is listening to the feedback. Successful areas and those that require focus are highlighted at regular company meetings and departments focussed information is provided to managers to share with their teams. Workshops are run for departments to analyse the Best Company data for their team. An action plan for areas requiring improvement is drawn up and implemented. Focus groups were held to discuss particular areas requiring remedial action.
