About Skipton Building Society

Skipton Building Society was established in the market town of the same name, back in the 1850's. Their core values back then were for people to help other people; for savers to help borrowers; for the building society to help the town; for us all to play our part in building a better society.

Fast forward to well over 150 years later and Skipton is one of the UK's largest building societies, where their local community spans the length and breadth of the country through nealry 90 branches. Over one million people trust them to help them save for their future and own their own home.

Colleagues can apply for the organisation's Aspiring Leaders Programme. The group receive a task that is usually a Society challenge which will help them develop leadership skills.
When delivering the 1-day mental health first aid training to all leaders, Skipton discuss the signs of stress and what steps can be put in place to reduce this, giving leaders an opportunity to recognise stress in themselves and others.

Skipton have an open discussion forum on their intranet for branch colleagues to share questions and views which are responded to by other colleagues and the branch network senior team. This encourages the remote branches and head office teams to interact and work collaboratively.
