VIVIDs vision is more homes, bright futures and at the heart of this is helping customers improve their wellbeing and life chances.
Formed in 2017 following a merger, VIVID is a leading provider of affordable homes, providing services and support to 72,000 customers in the South. VIVID has 31,000 homes across Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire and West Sussex and an ambitious target to build 17,000 more homes over the next 10 years.
VIVIDs mission would be impossible if it were not for the great people working within the organisation. Whether involved in the maintenance and repairs of customers’ homes, supporting customers directly or supporting those who do, all members of staff have an important role to play. As well as providing a place its customers can call home, VIVID helps create opportunities for people to improve their lives and communities too.
VIVID understands how important it is for its employees to enjoy their job, and to feel appreciated, valued, and rewarded for their work. So, central to delivering VIVIDs strategy has been a focus on fully engaging with its 850 employees. VIVIDs values are to work as one team, encourage challenge and change, and to deliver a great customer experience. Whilst supporting its peoples physical, mental, and social wellbeing is at the heart of what it does.
“We’re pleased with our accreditation as recognition of the journey we’re on and the role all our people play in engaging and supporting each other and themselves in the workplace. As a housing association and not-for-profit business, we can truly say that people, not profit are our driver and reason for being. Our vision of ‘more homes, bright futures’ is at the heart of the business, and our people are clear about the role they play to achieve this and to help deliver an excellent service to our customers and local communities.” - Duncan Short, Director of Resources
VIVID believe the development of leadership and management is key to the success of their organisation. They have development at all levels from Masterclasses for their Exec and Heads of Service with external high-profile providers to a range of bespoke development programmes for all current and future managers. They have been working in partnership with Matthew Syed Consulting over the last 18 months on a programme to improve leadership competence around growth mindset. This has been shared through workshops both face-to-face and virtual to all middle managers, heads of service and Executive directors.
This year VIVID launched an internal talent programme called Optimise. This is targeted at non-managers who have a desire to develop into management. They set up a rigorous selection process involving on-line tests and an assessment centre. They have successfully identified delegates who are now on an 18-monthapprenticeship which at the end will give them an ILM level 3 qualification. Furthermore, VIVID have over 50 apprentices across the business taking part in a wide range of apprenticeships from the classical trades, such as electricians, plumbers and software engineers. VIVID use apprenticeships for new starters and to upskill existing staff. They are actively encouraging women into previously male dominated careers, and they have successfully recruited 2 female apprentices - one carpenter and one plumber.
