About Wigan & Leigh College

Wigan & Leigh College has been leading the way since 1857. The College was formed in April 1992 through the merger of Wigan College of Technology and Leigh College.

Wigan & Leigh College has a long standing history in providing quality education and training. This has been achieved through exceptional teaching, support and guidance over an extensive range of academic, vocational, technical and apprenticeship courses.

The College's mission is to be a beacon of educational excellence transforming the lives of the individuals and communities they serve.

Their leader engages with employees of the College on a day to day basis in a number of ways: Curriculum planning meetings, Focus Group Meetings, Staff briefings and attending CPD/ Staff meetings.

All staff from the college are invited to attend the Christmas and End of Year Staff Celebration. The College hold these events twice a year, during which a celebration is put on for staff during working hours, to celebrate individual and team achievements. Food and refreshments are provided for staff during these events and prizes are provided to all winners.
Giving Something Back
Giving Something Back
The College support a local charity called The Brick. The Brick offers a huge range of services to people who are homeless, in poverty or facing debt crisis. The College have recently supported the charity by a number of staff sleeping outside for a night in return for sponsorship from their colleagues.
