YMCA Liverpool & Sefton provide accommodation, support and childcare. This is provided to people who have been impacted by homelessness, domestic abuse, mental health issues, addiction issues and also to children from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.
The organisation has seen many changes since its inception over 150 years ago. The aims and principles have not changed over the years; they still provide support and encouragement to people in need within the local community.
They have shaped themselves around five core principles: Strength, Humility, Respect, Empathy and Kindness. Employees are asked to mould their day to day work around these principles to ensure that what they do is sure to have a positive impact on both clients and colleagues alike.
Each employee is treated fairly and in accordance with their needs. Rewards are varied, from having pizza Friday's to ordering a takeaway for colleagues working a night shift. There is also a process through the HR system whereby colleagues can thank one another for a job well done, and make sure their effort is recognised. The organisation provides Christmas vouchers to all staff and pays for a Christmas get together as a reward for hard work within the year.
