What is it like to work for Abacus International

My Manager
My Manager
The values of the organisation can be easily summed up as honesty, integrity, transparency and a commitment to “doing the right thing”. The management team collectively demonstrate their commitment in their daily words and actions, always seeking to ensure a balanced approach that meets the needs of our clients, the company and the team members. The management team lead by example in terms of the company commitment to an appropriate work life balance with some working part time and all being responsible for monitoring overtime within their teams to ensure a balanced workload. Consistent with the company’s egalitarian approach, the majority of the management team work in the open plan office remaining connected to the real challenges faced by their teams on a daily basis as a consequence and are always available when the going gets tough. As part of the annual business planning process, each has to review the progression of all team members to ensure that they are creating an appropriate environment to develop all team members to their maximum potential.
Personal Growth
Personal Growth
Abacus believe that all of their employees have the potential to grow, both in their work role and personally, and therefore they endeavour to promote opportunities for growth; One way in which Abacus support an employee's development is through assisting employees who wish to pursue continuous professional development or to gain further qualifications, such as an MSc Health Economics. Abacus will pay the course tuition for the duration of the programme, essential reference books, membership fees, examination costs (if any) and any public transport costs that the employee would not normally incur.

This year Abacus introduced a new initiative to reward teams for their efforts; the first team/practice to exceed £2m in new business in a 12 month period would be awarded with a team night out to include dinner and hotel stay for those that did not live locally. The initiative reinforced the need to work as a team as no individual can realistically achieve £2m on their own.
