As a member of the IPA, Addiction Worldwide won Gold Standard CPD accreditation for its approach to training and development in both 2009 and 2010. They are one of only 25 of the 265 member agencies to achieve this prestigious award at their first attempt in 2009, and one of even fewer to have won it twice. This means that they have not only fulfilled the IPA’s basic requirements – induction and appraisal for everyone, and 16 hours a year of logged development time – but they have developed innovative ways of developing people which are clearly tied to their business objectives. Their flagship scheme this year has been Incubator – an enterprise scheme designed to develop commercial acumen amongst their staff, promote cross-functional collaboration and encourage the entrepreneurial spirit and have a bit of fun.
Addiction Worldwide is fast paced and often has intense periods of working, so they have to be communicating, observing and listening to what is happening throughout the organisation. They work on the basis of 'Ask forgiveness not permission'. Feedback is an integral part of their culture, which is something they bring in from the interview stage. They are an entrepreneurial, creative company which employs people who want and indeed need to share ideas on a daily basis. To that end there is no suggestion box or other 'one fits all' way of capturing all of this. Instead they make sure that every single member of staff knows that they will be listened to and answered. It is integrated into their DNA .
