Quick facts

About Allsop

Allsop, which is celebrating its 100th year in business, sold more than £1 billion of property last year, returning impressive profits of £13.1m. But the property consultancy values its staff just as highly as bringing in the pounds.

On average, people have been with the firm for more than six years, and they say that there is a strong sense of family in their teams (recording an 87% positive score), where people really care for one another (90%). Neil Mackilligin, the senior partner, has been with the company for 23 years, and 36 people have worked for the firm for more than 10 years — entitling them to a sabbatical of 12 weeks of paid leave.

Employees have holiday ranging from 23 to 33 days a year, depending on rank and seniority. School hours and reduced working are available.

A social committee organises events such as sports days and dinner-dances. To celebrate the company birthday last year, there was a black tie dinner-dance at Claridge's in London.

Departments have annual away days to European cities and treats such as a day at a health spa.

Pat Allsop, the son of the firm's founder, created a charitable trust which has supported hundreds of causes, while the firm's four auctioneers also offer their services for charity auctions. They helped to raise more than £500,000 last year for Save the Children and church restorations, among other charities.

If people had another job offer tomorrow they wouldn't leave (88%) and would strongly recommend the firm to others (91%).
