ASDAN Education has long recognised the power and potential of personal development through voluntary service. Over a decade ago, they were the first awarding body to develop a Certificate in Community Volunteering, which supported the personal growth of employment and life skills through service to others. ASDAN has continued to invest significantly in this approach. ASDAN’s pioneering leadership in this field has led to their guided reflection framework being used in the National Citizen Service pilot, which the government would like to see as a “rite of passage” for every 16 year-old one day. The government is now even considering an ASDAN qualification outcome for every successful NCS “graduate”. ASDAN are also attempting to secure CSR funding from corporate sponsors so that small charities, can use their qualifications to recognise achievement, raise self-worth and self-esteem, and enable tangible growth in personal effectiveness: transform the individual- transform the community!
