About Audley Travel

Audley Travel are a tour operator that designs tailor-made trips for clients. They cover Africa, Asia, North America and Australasia, Central and South America, the Indian Subcontinent and Europe.

The company was founded by director Craig Burkinshaw in 1996 with John Brewer, under the original name of Asian Journeys, covering Southeast Asia, North and Central Asia and the Indian Subcontinent.

In 2001, the company was renamed Audley Travel as they expanded to include South America as a destination. Over the years they’ve added more locations to their portfolio, becoming a global luxury tour operator.

In seeking to maintain and enhance the wellbeing of their staff, they haven designated rooms called ‘snugs’ that are only allowed to be used for employees to relax and wind down during the day. They are big open rooms with comfortable couches, books and a TV.

Buddy groups take place on a monthly basis between Regional Sales Managers. The purpose of which is to give the managers opportunity to discuss challenges, share successes and swap best practice to ultimately keep the learning alive, whilst providing peer support.

Audley Travel has a strong focus on team-building. Each team manager has a budget of £100 per head to spend on team-building activities throughout the year. Examples include: a Ready, Steady, Cook style event, scavenger hunts and escape room challenges.

They use a visual called 'The House' to summarise their business vision and strategy. The House is updated quarterly and annually with their targets for the year. Their progress is shared through ‘Town Halls’, company meetings and the intranet.
