This is managed through a Balanced Scorecard system, which provides visibility and understanding. The Senior Management Team are open to suggestions and innovations, communicating openly and directly with employees through State of the Nation presentations, On the Spot debates and open Q&A forums at the yearly Management Conference. A strong innovation scheme labelled ‘Innov8it’ continues to provide a forum for employees to register ideas and have them discussed by the Senior Team on a regular basis. Winning ideas are supported to be implemented within the business, and receive a cash reward.

Balfour Beatty have an Annual Merit Review process, which seeks to provide monetary reward for high performers over the previous year. This also forms part of the salary grading structure to ensure salaries remain aligned within the business. An Annual Awards Ceremony (PAFDA's) is also held, which provides the opportunity for individuals and teams excelling in different areas to be recognised in front of their peers in a celebratory environment.
