Beaverbrooks the Jewellers is an award winning family-owned jewellers with stores across the UK, providing exceptional quality diamonds, jewellery and watches. The retailer recently celebrated its centenary year and is still owned by the founding family.

Beaverbrooks is an open and honest company, so it's important to them to communicate key business decisions and the rationale to all its employees. The retailer believes that happy, driven and accountable colleagues go hand-in-hand with strong financial performance and believe transparency is key.

The business understands the importance of having both proactive and reactive tools in place to help ease any type of stress. All colleagues have regular 1-2-1s; this is private, quality time with a member of the management team to discuss anything personal or work related. Beaverbrooks’ managing director has a people-centric leadership style and firmly believes that a collaborative and inclusive culture is key to business success. They operate an open-door policy and host 12 Focus Groups each year where they bring together groups of colleagues from across the business.

Beaverbrooks pride themselves on promoting managers internally. To support this, they have developed two internal programmes: one for store colleagues and a newly introduced programme for office colleagues. There is a structured application process to follow before securing a place on the programme and ultimately the trainees senior manager must endorse their application.

Beaverbrooks purpose is Enriching Lives; a major focus recently which has been supporting their core behaviour “we give time, expertise & money to our communities & the wider world”. Every penny raised by colleagues for charity is match funded from The Beaverbrooks Charitable Trust. In Beaverbrooks’ centenary year they are ‘double matching’ which means charities will receive three times the original donation.
