Mission: To enhance the lives of everyone that touches Blue Arrow. Vision: To become the world’s most trusted staffing company.
A WEEKEND AT Vilamoura in Portugal last year, complete with spending money and sun cream selected for their skin type, was the reward for outstanding performers at Blue Arrow Group last year. Managing director Fraser McLeod oversees activities at this Luton-based recruitment agency, which has 100 offices across the UK. Founded in 1959, it places people in roles from call centre work to catering.
Owned by the Impellam Group (which also holds Tate, ranked among the top 50 on our list of Small Best Companies this year), its 562 staff rate Blue Arrow for the Personal Growth it offers (a 76% positive score). New recruits go on a 12-month foundation programme to gain an understanding of the business and acquire the practical skills to succeed in it. A learning and development team provides a tailored career route, including industry qualifications and management skills, and individuals feel the training here is of great personal benefit to them (74%).
Consultants are reviewed against promises they make with their managers who, they say, help them fulfil their potential (75%) and regularly express appreciation for a job well done (79%).
“The temporary workforce in the UK is increasingly commoditised, with candidates being treated as statistics rather than individuals,” says Blue Arrow’s mission statement. The company has pledged to fight this trend, and the whole staff signed a wall in the boardroom promising to enhance people’s lives. They consider working here an important part of their own lives, too (85%).
