As well as the formal processes implemented by the college the managers within the college are tuned into the college culture of recognition and praise for a job well done. The college also has a thank you card system and the Christmas Stars which allow managers to recognise outstanding staff members. Managers meet regularly with staff to ask for feedback both at a team level and on an individual basis. The teams are relatively small which allows line managers to be able to pick up on any issues quickly and discuss these and find workable remedies.
There is a committment from the leader of the organisation to seek the views of staff and to listen and take action on appropraite suggestions of staff. Liz McIntyre, the Principal, runs Futures Workshops to consult with staff on the College's Corporate Plan, their Annual Priorities and other major issues. For example, one of the sessions will be seeking the views of staff on the Consultation Paper from the Scottish Government on "Putting Learners at the Centre: Delivering Our Ambitions for Post 16 Education". Staff freely attend these sessions as they are able to see direct results from their suggestions and know that their views will be listened to and respected.
