BrewDog started with just two men and a dog. James and Martin didn't like the beer they were drinking at home and decided to do something about it. Starting in a garage, they began to make their own beer. Once up and running, they entered a home brew competition ran by a large supermarket chain and came in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. BrewDog was then on the supermarket shelves across the entire UK.
After some success and many different beers and campaigns, BrewDog moved to a larger facility and started opening bars. Now, some years later, the facility has more than doubled in size, is still expanding and BrewDog have over 90 bars world wide.
BrewDog know that the success they see is largely down to their people. The company is committed to giving away 20% of their profits each year to reward employees for their continued effort. 10% of these profits are shared equally among everyone, with a further 10% shared out equally among charities choice.
BrewDog also celebrate employees through their 'Punk to Punk' scheme, this is where the organisation give employees £100 virtual spending money, so they can nominate another member of the team with a 'Punk to Punk' bonus. Once a quarter, BrewDog publish an update of the amazing things employees have achieved and it is at this time where they are paid their 'Punk to Punk' bonus, and receive a certificate with all the nominations they received throughout the year.
