Mission: To provide professional consultancy to help increase caravan and holiday sales, improve margins and get control of costs. Vision: To delight every visitor so they wish to return.
THIS CARAVAN PARK operator and manager wants people to have a good time when they visit its sites, and knows its staff are the key to success. The Milton Keynes-based company owns five caravan parks across the UK, and it also provides consultancy services to holiday park owners and managers.
It has 376 employees across 10 sites, but given the nature of the work, most of the jobs are seasonal, with 10% of the workforce on zero-hours contracts. However, staff say they wouldn’t leave tomorrow if they had another job (74% positive) and add that they are not bored at work (76%).
Everyone gets 27 days’ holiday a year, and flexible working is encouraged. There are also childcare vouchers for working parents. People agree that their jobs do not interfere with their responsibilities at home (71%) and say they have fun with colleagues (84%).
When it comes to rewards and recognition, managers hand out lottery-style scratchcards, which conceal a variety of surprise prizes including paid time off and cash rewards. There’s also an annual awards dinner along with a regular newsletter that flags up examples of people going above and beyond the call of duty.
The chief executive, Andrew Howe, is hands-on when it comes to organising and delivering customer service training sessions at all of the company’s holiday parks before the beginning of every season. Employees say he runs Bridge Leisure on sound moral principles (75%).
