GUSHING PRAISE FOR a job well done never runs out at Britain’s biggest tap and shower supplier. Staff at Bristan Group say managers regularly express appreciation for their work, scoring 82% positive, a top-20 ranking on this measure.
Led by chief executive Jeremy Ling at headquarters in Tamworth, the bathroom product specialist was formed in 2005 by a merger with A&J Gummers and Heritage Bathrooms, a luxury brand that has supplied tennis star Andy Murray’s Cromlix hotel near Dunblane. The company’s customer service team — one of the biggest in the industry — has a “no limits” policy on making life easier for clients, introducing a landmark next-day delivery service to stockists in 1994.
Sales staff and engineers spend a lot of time on the road but the business uses Skype and iPads to lighten the load and ensure they maintain a healthy balance between their work and personal life (69%). Employees are not worried that professional demands interfere with responsibilities at home (70%) and do not feel under too much pressure to perform well (68%).
Product designers are part of the 311-strong team and there is a test laboratory to take innovations from the drawing board to the market.
People say that their managers share important knowledge and information with them (79%, 10th). Rain and waste water are recycled at the Tamworth building and staff believe the company genuinely cares about the environment (77%).
