CarShop have a very clear development journey that arms colleagues with the right tools, training and support along the way. CarShop supports colleagues with studies and e,ployees are able to request study leave. CarShop will also assist in funding courses if there is a business need for someone to gain a qualification. There is an e-learning renovation project underway too to make this a blended learning approach. The company also work with some excellent third parties to tailor training for bespoke requirements, which makes them an industry leader in their training programmes.

CarShop Cares is the brands new charity programme. It is a scheme designed to align charity and fundraising efforts in order to achieve their ambitious aim of raising £100,000 for their selected national charity by the end of 2017. Global's Make Some Noise is the national charity CarShop supports. 'Make Some Noise' supports small but brilliant projects across the UK, which deliver life-changing work to youngsters and their families living with illness, disability or lack of opportunity. These projects struggle to get heard, so Global’s Make Some Noise gives them a voice and raises money to support their vital work. All employees/candidates are treated equally and fairly and need to prove Right to Work in the UK and complete a DBS. The company have had and do employ colleagues that have criminal offences on file and the company openly discuss and support them with this to help them develop and grow.

The CarShop have an Engage Talent scheme that they run to further develop colleagues. This is broken into two areas: Engage Sales and Engage Future Leaders. This scheme is designed to give colleagues more insight and knowledge for future progression. In addition to this the company operate Colleague of the Month and also Colleague of the Quarter, which is nominated by fellow colleagues against one of their four company pillars and the individuals who win receive a quarterly recognition bonus points. The company finds that rewarding their colleagues in the form of benefits is one of the best ways to ensure that they remain developed, engaged, motivated and enthused. The CarShop feel that this is one of the main reasons why they have a fantastic colleague retention rate and are an employer of choice within their industry. Just a few examples of these benefits include a cycle to work scheme, a childcare voucher scheme, 30+ days annual leave, health plans and colleague discount.
