Chess run a two-year Leadership Academy, delivered by the Group Training Manager, which covers several modules, ranging from basic subjects such as time management, to more complex areas such as coaching others and delivering a major presentation.

All sites have a monthly cultural calendar where they are entitled to a ‘pubclub’ or lunch every month – people get £5 a head and can either all go to the pub for a few drinks after work or have lunch in the office.

For their chosen charities, Chess use their Gimme 5 chips to raise money and recognise their people. Every time someone does something nice for someone else they get rewarded with a Gimme 5 chip, which is valued at £1 for their chosen charity.
