"The receptionist smiled broadly at the visitor as he handed him his pass. Smoothly he put a caller through on the phone system. This is not any receptionist, it is Richard Huntingford, group chief executive, ""back to the floor"" at the Chrysalis offices in west London. As a result of Huntingford's time on the front desk, the old- fashioned headsets worn by receptionists were changed and a new system introduced.
Chrysalis covers four media sectors — radio broadcasting, music publishing and recording, book publishing and mobile content — across six British sites.
Its employees show great commitment and enthusiasm: 77% say they ""love"" working for Chrysalis, while 82% say they would miss work if they left, and 83% feel a sense of pride in working there — all top 25 scores among the 100 best companies overall.
Work is important to Chrysalis staff; the 80% who say so is the ninth-highest proportion, and the 59% who say they are in their dream job ranks Chrysalis 10th overall. One of the key reasons why people like Chrysalis appears to be the nature of the work: 75% describe it as ""stimulating"". Another factor is that staff work in fun, supportive teams, with managers they trust and respect: 75% say the people in their team go out of their way to help them and 78% feel a strong sense of family at work.
