DYSLEXIA NEED NOT hold anyone back at Claims Consortium Group, where an in-house creative learning programme helps employees with learning difficulties to develop professionally. More than 50 people are being supported by the initiative, championed by founder and chief executive Jeremy Hyams, himself dyslexic, who mentors staff and has created a video about his personal experiences.
The Taunton-based property and motor claims validation and repairs business has been recognised for its work with gold membership of the British Dyslexia Association (BDA). Founded in 1996, it has 275 people in five sites and turnover rose by more than 40% last year to almost £46m, delivering pre-tax profits of £2.7m.
Employees, who helped to draw up a new set of corporate values that include delivering the best service and supporting each other, are encouraged to take part in charitable activities (94% positive). Last year they formed a band and choir to make a fundraising single for the company’s main charity Stand Against Violence, which aims to reduce youth violence.
