Dudley Building Society serve their members by offering them savings and mortgage products.
The organisation has been serving the Black Country and the surrounding area since it was established in 1858. As a mutual society, the business is run for the betterment of its members with profits reinvested back into the business rather than paying shareholders.
Dudley Building Society believe that showing their people appreciation is paramount, whether that is a simple thank you from the line manager or a promotion into a role which they have strived hard to achieve. Their reward system GEM- Going the Extra Mile, was introduced recently and already it is embedded into the culture within the society.
The system is split into three; Pink GEM - nominated by the senior managers, this is in recognition of an outstanding performance, a presentation is arranged in the office, always to the genuine surprise of the recipient. Blue GEM - this is presented by line managers to say well done or thank you, this is presented with a small gift. And finally, Green GEM - The Building Society feel it is important for employees to be able to say thank you to each other and all employees are able to give a green GEM to their colleagues.
