In a large agency environment, being accountable and engaged at every level is easier said than done. It’s one thing to be the biggest, but you have to work hard and smart to be the best. That is the Edelman mantra. Their Senior Management Team has a responsibility to lead by example, holding true to the founder Dan Edelman’s belief that everyone is an Account Executive. In July 2015 the Senior Edelman UK team launched “The Dans”, the company’s very own glittering, Oscars-style award programme based on the refreshed company values. The Dans celebrate people who best embody the principles of Dan Edelman and reward those who live Edelman’s culture and values day-in day-out. Earlier this year, Senior Leadership also celebrated the company’s commitment to being constantly curious by giving everyone half a day’s extra holiday to spend feeding their curiosity. It’s critical that the broader values and vision of the company are supported by the leadership. Edelman UK CEO Ed Williams works to foster a culture of quality, success, creativity and partnership. Ed personally meets with all new joiners to talk through expectations and answer questions. At a recent internal charity event he cooked dinner at his home for a group of employees. He regularly contributes to the fortnightly company newsletter and is also the proud holder of the Edelman Table Tennis championship!

Edelman continuously supports employees’ professional and personal development by refreshing their Learning & Development Programme every year. This carefully tailored programme comprises regular internal and external training sessions, including but not limited to an introduction to PR, writing skills, paid media 101, presentation and pitching. Edelman also runs the annual Client Leadership Academy, a yearly global programme to help rising stars continue their journey towards becoming the firm’s client and business leaders of the future. The annual Edelman Fellows Programme sees up to ten middle Managers within the global network given the chance to transfer from their home office to selected host offices in APACEMA, Canada, Europe and CIS, LatAM and the U.S. for up to 12 months. Locally, Edelman has invested heavily in Career Pathing, ensuring their evolution from PR firm to Communications Marketing agency opens a wider range of career paths for our people. Lastly, the Edelman Global Women’s Executive Network supports future female leaders within the company and this year offered an opportunity for employees to attend the International Women’s Forum in Tel Aviv. There, they joined discussions on the future of leadership and examined pressing global issues.
