Line managers are generally responsible for ensuring their employees do not work too many hours. However, all employees are also entitled to a Corporate Leisure Card, which gives discounted access to sporting and leisure facilities within the vicinity, such as the Oasis swimming pool and gym. Employees are reminded about work-life balance on an ongoing basis.

EPSRC does not have a budget specifically for 'fun' events and is very mindful of the fact that it is publicly funded and does not deem it appropriate to use this funding for social events. However, EPSRC do have events that have both a social and work-related side. For example, the 'HOW' event last spring , that engaged employees in EPSRC with scientific researchers, sharing a common understanding of how every individual role within EPSRC contributed to a piece of successful research being carried out.

Although it's not directly supporting a charity, EPSRC works with Year in Industry EDT. EDT is a registered educational charity in England, Wales and Scotland. EPSRC recruits YINI students for one year placements. The students are paid as a normal employee and are given great opportunities for learning and development.
