About Family Action

Family Action transforms lives by providing practical, emotional and financial support to those who are experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation across the country.

The organisation have been building stronger families for over 150 years and today work with over 45,000 families through over 140 community-based services. Thousands more are supported financially through their national small grants programmes. Reaching out to those in need, Family Action strengthen families and communities, build skills and resilience and improve the life chances of everyone they work with.

Family Action have a strong and successful history of building stronger families and as they look to the future, their values and behaviours define them, and underpin all the work that they do. They can achieve their ambitions by always: being people focused, reflecting a 'can do' approach, striving for excellence in everything that they do and having mutual respect for everyone they work with, work for and support through their services.

The organisation have a recognition awards programme that rewards employees for behaving in line with their values. The winners are invited to an awards ceremony with a free lunch and the CEO presents the awards. Employees receive a star-shaped award with their name and the title of the award on it.

A values session is presented by a Director every month at the induction of new starters. Their CEO is also very visible throughout the organisation and he sits within the open-plan office. They also presents a segment on the history of the organisation every month at the corporate induction.

Family Action offer current and aspiring managers access to ILM Level 3 and 5 qualifications through the apprenticeship levy. Delegates have a dedicated coach to support them through the qualification, and there are also peer-support groups in place for delegates in similar locations.

Family Action have an annual summer staff picnic. As a dispersed organisation with staff working nationally, they invite each team to take the afternoon off work to have their own picnic or other team bonding experience.
