About Family Action

Family Action work directly with vulnerable children and families to carry out work in its key areas of early years, grants, adult mental health, children and families across 140 UK sites.

Launched in 1869 and operating across 140 sites, the charity has regularly been at the forefront of providing innovative support to vulnerable people. Family Action aims to achieve its ambitions by embracing values in its work, as well as in professional relationships with colleagues, partners and those who use their services.

The core values that sit at the heart of the organisation include having a ‘can do’ approach and striving for excellence in all areas.

Chief Executive David Holmes CBE engages with employees through regular blogs, which are posted on the intranet and emailed to all members of staff directly. His open door policy means he welcomes emails from staff and volunteers on issues that matter to them.

Employees are supported on a Level 5 Leadership and Management course from the Chartered Management Institute. They also get time off work for seminar days and have access to mentors and job shadowing opportunities.

Events on offer for staff include regional thinking days, equality and diversity steering group meetings, wellbeing events and an ideas bank, where employees can apply for funding to develop a new service. Wellbeing mornings are held at head office.
