Mission: To be an approachable, talked about and recommended law firm. Vision: To become a Top 100 Law Firm by 2018.
THE SEEDS OF this law practice were sown in 1979 when founder and chairman Rob Fletcher qualified as a solicitor. He had a passion for motorcycles, and soon found his calling — specialising in helping those injured in serious accidents as well as taking on medical negligence cases.
In 1987 he set up his own firm in Southport, which still specialises but has grown to employ a 280-strong workforce. Caring for its clients may be paramount at this enterprise, but it also values its employees, with a philosophy of “we are all in this together”.
Training at Fletchers is as much about communication skills and a good attitude as it is about technical ability. People feel the experience they gain is valuable for the future (81% positive) and say the job is good for their own growth (80%).
Everyone works flexibly, taking up to 12 extra days of leave on top of an allotted 20 if necessary. There are also colleague-nominated awards, with winners receiving a £50 gift card and a plaque in the office foyer, plus formal prizes such as lawyer of the year. Individuals say their teammates care for each other (83%).
