About Gloucestershire College

What is it like to work for Gloucestershire College

Personal Growth
Personal Growth
As a College in Further Education, they have an excellent and huge range of training activities that staff may undertake. These opportunities range from specific job related training, to basic skills that are highly transferable. Staff are regularly encouraged to take up training opportunities and a monthly training schedule is circulated to all staff, advertising some of the most popular activities.
In order to help employees maintain their work/life balance the College has placed a restriction on the maximum number of hours a member of teaching or support staff can work in any given week. In addition, the holiday entitlement at the College is generous and staff do not work between Christmas and New Year. The College also encourages employees to take part in recreational activities outside of work by offering on-site gym facilities to all employees as well as organising social events such as a free summer BBQ and the annual Christmas party.

My Team
The Christmas event has a theme each year with prizes given to those who have used the most creation and imagination in designing their costumes. The theme last Christmas was ''Christmas Re-Cycled', to support their approach to sustainability. The event includes a sit-down meal, prepared by the in-house catering team, including students, with live music and a quiz. Last year the college held an event “Gloscol's Got Talent” competition. Individuals and teams entered the talent show with singing, dancing and comedy acts. A judging panel , comprising staff and a student, gave witty commentary and voted for the winner. The summer BBQ is an event to thank the staff for all their hard work during the academic year. Food and entertainment is provided during an extended lunch break.
