Ground Control have dramatically ramped up their communication to employees in the past 12 months, both through thier internal newsletter, but also through all the company wide, sector and regional events they have organised and sponsored to ensure that every employee feels a part of the business and believes they value them. They call these “shareholder meetings” and strive to have Ground Control staff feel like owners of the business instead of just employees. Since 2004, they have given every employee in the business share options equivalent to 10% of their salaries. As such, every employee is a shareholder and owner in the business. In the past few years, they have paid out over £750,000 to 64 qualifying employees (based on three year vesting period) in dividends. They believe that this ownership and participation in the financial success of the business is a critical part of how their employees feel about engagement. They have increased their frequency of communications to celebrate these amazing aspects of their business so that everyone feels a part of Ground Control.
