The company is very keen that employees have a healthy work-life balance and have promoted flexible working hours arrangements where the start or end time of the day can shift to meet an individual's needs. Where individuals come to their attention for excessively working late hours then the manager involved is informed. Their well-being check is taken up by many employees. They also have an employee assistance programme and several flexible benfits that are health-oriented. These include a local GP service, a well-being programme and private Healthcare.
The company regularly hold pub quizzes in aid of their chosen charity, but perhaps the most memorable social event recently was the GS1 UK Olympics which they ran in parallel to the London Olympics. The Company was divided into six teams, each given a name of a smaller country that does not normally feature high on the medals chart. They held events in table football, WII sports, table tennis and created a medals board. The feedback from the event was great and staff enjoyed interacting with people that they wouldn't normally have the chance to.
