About Halesowen College

What is it like to work for Halesowen College

Leadership
Leadership
The 1st July staff development Away Day had a major impact on employer engagement by providing opportunities for employees across the organisation to get to know each other in a relaxing and leisurely activity. Teaching staff from across subject areas mixed with support staff from all service areas; many sharing travel arrangements on coaches to a range of venues. Activities included guided tours of castles and stately homes, Cadbury World, paintballing, seaside excursions, boat trips down the Avon and educational expeditions to Bletchley Park and the BBC. The Principal's direction of the College is founded upon strong financial management and an open and consultative style of leadership. His regular podcasts reflect his communicative style, informing staff of the College's continuing success in engaging and empowering employees and learners to achieve their full potential. As the leader of the organisation, he sets high standards for all employees and focuses on staff development and progression within the organisation.

There are large programmes of staff development for all staff alongside more individual and exclusive training emanating from all staff appraisals and performance management meetings.

My Team
My Team
Celebration dinners have been introduced in the past year as an opportunity for teams to get together for a relaxing evening in the College Restaurant with a meal provided for employees. Team leaders organise a range of activities for their staff on these evenings that include quizzes, competitions and theme events. At this event the Principal awards two cheques for two employees, one from support and one from teaching teams, who have made a noticeable impact upon the College in the previous year. Press and publicity photographs highlight these employees in the local newspapers.
