The Firm's values are discussed with employees on a quarterly basis during staff meetings to ensure transparency and to identify any areas of weakness. The company’s values are very visible and can be seen in their commitment to support the development of their staff through training, development and flexibility. The Partners are very enthusiastic about the Firm and want to make it the best place to work. They inspire people to be engaged with Hardies, which is key to retention. The Managing Partner and all Partners in the Firm are working alongside the employees on a day to day basis so there are no barriers between employer and employees. A lot of communication is now done through the company’s Intranet site, where daily information about what is happening within the Firm is lodged. The Managing Partner also makes quarterly visits to all offices to update employees on the Firm's performance.

Offering Healthcare to employees and their children has been very positive and well received at Hardies. The company have had a number of cases where this has made a huge difference to the outcome of a medical problem. It also encourages employees to have eye tests, as any tests and the cost of glasses or lenses are fully funded. Providing health checks every two years has proved to be a huge benefit, as a number of underlying health issues have been identified during these checks. With regards to mental health and wellbeing, Hardies annual pedometer challenges, Autumn office walks, quiz nights and race nights are both healthy and social activities which have had very positive outcomes. Stress risk assessments are carried out across the Firm on an annual basis and during periods of high performance. Managers attend Mental Health and Wellbeing courses to help them identify stress and how to deal with it. The Firm also provides information on mental health and stress topics that is placed in each office. Hardies are also Healthy Working Lives Gold and Mental Health and Well Being Commendation Award holders.

Giving Something Back
Hardies main community initiative is supporting and raising monies for local charities. Each office within the firm has selected a local charity and events are run throughout the year, with the funds raised being given to these charities. The company also runs a school’s programme initiative, where again each office adopts a local school to encourage an interest in surveying and administration and to provide work shadowing and job opportunities. Hardies' Corporate Social Responsibility document is reviewed annually and includes a list of all members of staff and Partners who commit to various boards and charities within the community.
