At Harvey Ingram they have entrusted the role of "Knowledge Fee Earner" to fifteen of their solicitors who have been given the task of developing the Knowledge Management initiative at the firm. This includes the capture, storage and leverage of their know-how via mediums such as team-sharing meetings, awards and briefing documents. The importance of a successful Knowledge Management strategy is underlined to all staff, with their participation discussed at one-to-one meetings and appraisals and is also linked to internal promotions. Employees are also supported by annual appraisals, quarterly one to ones and associate development programmes. They encourage promotion through training and development and have individual training plans in place in certain teams. The type of training available includes management/personal development training, including appraisal skills, professional skills training, presentation skills and legal/technical training and management courses.

Wellbeing is addressed in many ways. Health assessment checks funded by Leicester City Primary Trust are offered to cover basic health checks such as blood pressure, cholesterol and weight. Home working and flexitime is also available to all employees, which is particularly helpful for home emergencies or physical incapacity. If anybody is greatly exceeding their stipulated hours, this would raise concern that either their workload was too high or there may be performance issues and the team leader would accordingly consult with the employee to see if any assistance was required. Families are recognised as being important and are invited to events such as the Christmas and summer parties and events arranged through the Social Committee, for example day trips to France and quiz nights.

Employees enter enthusiastically into a great number of fundraising activities, sometimes during the working day or in their own time, all of which are supported by the firm. They recently held a charity day for Breast Cancer Care where employees wore an item of pink clothing in return for a contribution to the charity. The firm will match funds raised by employees for certain charitable events and there is no fixed upper limit. Employees also regularly attend legal surgeries and offer Pro Bono work to the local community. A great deal of environmental work has been undertaken and records are kept as to the amount of recycling taking place. Specific receptacles are provided for such products as plastic, cardboard and white paper. There has been a lot of enthusiasm from all levels of staff for the recycling initiatives. Work is also being undertaken to reduce the firm's carbon footprint and looking into the firm's energy consumption.
