About Heathrow Business Support Centre

The Heathrow Business Support Centre is located in Glasgow and delivers finance, HR and ID security services to Heathrow Airport. The unit employs 57 people and was set up in 2000.
The support centre offers services to Heathrow Airport, the world’s second-busiest airport, with a record 75.7 million passengers in 2016.

Heathrow is 14 miles west of Central London, with two parallel east-west runways and four operational terminals on a site of more than 12 km sq km. The airport is owned and operated by Heathrow Airport Holdings.

The role of the support centre is critical in delivering the back-up functions that enable Heathrow Airport to achieve its vision of giving passengers the best airport service in the world.

A performance management framework agrees objective and measurable targets with managers, assessed in the middle and end of each year, with final ratings linked to pay and bonuses. There are regular one-to-ones each month between employees and managers.
A colleague-led group identifies offers for staff. This has spawned a weekly delivery of fruit, free healthy breakfast cereals, free health checks and flu jabs. Massage and chiropody specialists, holistic therapies and a counselling service are also offered.

An active employee group manages and drives forward community involvement. This group identifies charities people want to support. Activities have included the Heathrow Midnight Marathon, the Oxfam Big Bra Hunt and making up clothes packs to send to Africa.
