About Hexagon Housing Association Limited

What is it like to work for Hexagon Housing Association Limited

Wellbeing
Wellbeing
Their culture is one of encouraging employees not to work beyond their normal working hours to maintain their work/life balance. Employees are required to complete monthly flexi-sheets, whereby their line managers are able to monitor the number of hours worked. They can also apply to reduce their working hours either permanently or temporarily and up to five days paid carer's leave per year is available. Employees who work on the flexi-time scheme can vary their start and finish times outside of the core hours and can have personal appointments accommodated. To support their wellbeing, they provide a confidential service, whereby employees are able to access twenty four hour support on various issues, including employment matters, family issues and legal issues. There is also a room provided for onsite lunchtime massages. Families and friends are invited to annual Christmas party and summer BBQ which is an opportunity for them to socialise.
Giving Something Back

The aim of the organisation is to measure and reduce the carbon and environmental footprint of their offices, nursing homes, business travel and direct labour organisation. All departments have waste paper recycling facilities as well as plastic and can recycling facilities in the kitchens. Other materials that are recycled include mobile phones, printer cartridges and batteries. They have a Sustainability Group which meets on a quarterly basis who is responsible for driving these efforts. They also run an Employment Academy which encourages their residents and the local community to take action to get back into the workplace. The Academy provides work placements, apprenticeships and work tasters as well as information sessions on how to improve CV’s and interview techniques. They also encourage local young people to apply for grants to assist them in achieving their goals.

Employees are recognised through the annual Staff Excellence Awards and as part of one to one sessions, where achievements and successes are identified. The Manager relays these to the Director, who emails a thank you to the employee or congratulates them verbally.
