LIVING UP TO its slogan "a borough to be proud of", Hinckley and Bosworth council has reaped top 20 ratings for My Team, Wellbeing and My Manager across all 75 public sector bodies. It is clear that employees at this Leicestershire district council — who carry out the majority of day-to-day services in the area from emptying bins to supporting local businesses and cleaning the streets — get along well, going by the glowing scores for questions in the My Team factor. Colleagues go out of their way to help each other (78% positive), have fun (78%) and care about each other (80%) — all top five results among mid-sized organisations, even though the council has no budget for social events. Staff also say they feel a strong sense of family with their team-mates, the 72% positive score here bettered at just one other body, and contributing to an overall factor score of 74% positive, ranking Hinckley and Bosworth fifth. Employees are happy with the balance of their home and work lives (69%, and another top five result on the mid-sized list) and the job does not interfere with domestic duties — the 70% positive score here bettered at just one other body.
